    By the way, I think I shared the news a few years ago that my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. As of yesterday, she is officially (cancer) disease free! Long live nivolumab/pembrolizumab!

The arms come back, and then out as you approach your chest. I liked it. 130x10 90x10 95x8 100x8 Triceps hell new machine; new weight scale. lol 57.5lbsx20x2 (overhand) 42.5x20, 47.5x20 (underhand) Biceps curls on the same machine 57.5x10x3S My glute med is a bit tweaky. Hopefully it relaxes in the next hour. My Uncle had a 2-artery heart attack this week. The widowmaker was 100% blocked, and there is another one that is 70% blocked. He drove himself to the hospital in his RV, since he was out in the woods. He received his first stent within the first hour of having his heart attack, and it looks like there was no muscle tissue damage, or at least very minor damage. They won't apply the second stent for a while, since I guess it's not fully blocked? My wife heads off to work a new job on top of her other 2 jobs, so after some time, I'm guessing the money stress will lessen a little bit. I'm IFing, since I have to do something to trim some weight. My uncle is a "large" guy, but his weight at admission time was 231...

    Yes, I thought I had shared but I probably forgot. Biopsy and accompanying ultrasound revealed nothing. My liver is in excellent shape again somehow. The size grant reduced since the last ultrasound and my enzymes are almost normal. Just waiting on the insurance company to decline me. They said they wouldn't pay for medication unless my biopsy showed at least level 2 fibrosis. I have zero fibrosis. We'll have to see how that plays out. When I get a job, though, that insurance will cover some.

    Okay switching out the bamboo bench for straight weight for this wave. Need to feel some heavy weight. But I will absolutely be going back to bamboo bench to keep building. Bench 95X10 135X5 185X5 225X4 275X3 315X2 I was surprised. Haven't touched over 215 until this day. Pec felt good. This was the weight at which my pecs start to be the weak link. Pullup BWX12 grip 1 BWX12 grip 2 BWX13 grip 3 Press 165X5 135X5X2 Cable Row 60X8 80X8 100X8 120X8 140X8 Pec Deck 150X15X2 Face Pull and Press 50X8 40X15 30X15 Incline DB Curl 15X20 20X13 I was shocked at my bench. Things must be going well. Pullups are also feeling good...I hit a stride with them and they're feeling more fluid.

Like usual, not sure how heavy, but 3 sets of 8-10 (pretty sure I did 10, 10, 8). Concentrated on taking my time with the curls, and boy did I feel it.

Our Smart TV's will have been hacked to wake us up a few times during the night for added effect and when we do get up, we'll find our coffee makers are refusing to work while our new robot overlords land on the beaches.

    The Sleep Thread 😴

    I've used my new Philips Smartsleep for two nights now. I'm reserving judgment until I've used it for a few months, but I will say that my initial impression is positive. My deep sleep duration increased significantly relative to what the Zeo reported recently. Obviously I can't know for sure if the increase is due to the claimed SWS enhancing effect of the Smartsleep or just different measurement methods, but my energy levels have been notably higher in the past two days despite only getting 6 hours of sleep each night. The Smartsleep has an option to disable the SWS boosting function. After I have a few more weeks of data I'll try turning it off for a while to measure any differences.

    Oh man. Are we the same person? I have done this over and over again, and it's just gotten worse as I've gotten older (because I'm more prone to injury). I hurt my left knee and adductor pretty badly a while back, went through months of rehab, then when my knee was finally better I jumped straight into the full Oly lifts again and hurt my right knee. I think the only thing that's saved me recently is just following my coach's programming without deviation (aside from a little additional accessory work). I'm not sure why, but I'll come up with programs for myself that I would never give to anyone else. Like I'm some sort of special snowflake. I think there's a lot to be said sometimes for just having someone tell you what to do. Sorry for the tangent. Just something I've been thinking about lately.

    I haven't been on the forum much lately because I just haven't been in a certain headspace. Other things have been more important than farting around online lately but I'll be back around eventually. Just a heads up if I only post in my log for awhile. I performed very well today and am regaining some confidence. My squat was beautiful (for me) and I'm content with what it looks like now. I'm built a certain way and I shouldn't fight it to squat like other people. I'll keep working on my quads but not to the point where I ain't squatting heavy. Comp Squat 45X5 135X3 185X3 225X2 275X1X2 315X1 365X1 405X1 425X1...I think I went a bit below depth and could have gone a little heavier. Super happy wit it. Oly Squat 155X5 155X5 225X5 Trap DL 130X3 395X3 325X5 Manual Leg Curl BW-green&red bandsX10 BW-green bandX10X2 Was going to do some core and maybe leg extensions lol but I have to shovel and move 3 square yards of mulch tonight so I kept a little in the tank.

    Most people cannot keep their arms up over their head while squatting ATG/A2G/ASS(hole)-to-GRASS(hole). As soon as your hips start to drop, many people hunch their shoulders and their arms come forward and down. It takes some amount of work to coordinate the top and bottom halves of your body.

    All is well in keto/VLC land. Big shout out to @STENDEC, @mwarren and especially @Kimbo for the inspiration on OH squats. Have been using bands from a pull-up bar to alternately pull back/pull forward and holy shit, immediate difference in my brain learning what needs to fire when.

    I did, and I knew you'd add them in sooner or later lol Overhead squats are extremely hard for most people. If you're really mobile and have great balance, then you probably don't understand. The shoulder, t-spine, hip, and ankle mobility are all being tested at their terminal end ROMs. I do them with a broomstick as one of my mobility drills, but I doubt I could go over 100lbs without putting some serious work into it. Even on front squats, you can cheat your posterior chain into taking more of the load than it should be, but this is impossible with overhead squats. Either your position is perfect and you're using the shit out of your quads, or that bar is gonna dump forward.

    yeah, I don't think you can eat there without hitting at least 1500 calories, and that's eating "healthy" foods with no flavorings added what so ever. I one time ate there without any mindfulness of how many calories I was taking in, went home and did the math with the help of their nutritional info chart. I think it came out at 5900 calories? If I recall, it was a salad, fish and chips with an extra side of mac and cheese, a piece of cheesecake and some kind of drink that likely had fruit juice in it. I was all like "damn, wtf" then all I could do was laugh and such. I felt so very american in that moment. In a way that I've yet to surpass.

    Nothing too crazy compared to others I have heard. Grew up in church which a lot of the students could relate to. Just learned the rules to follow when people were paying attention. Definitely some depression/anxiety starting around 5th grade(didn't mention that). Ended up bottling everything up inside me which eventually led to emotional meltdowns. Tried smoking weed when I was in 7th grade. Did that for a bit but it just wasn't for me. Only seemed to make me paranoid. Got drunk for the first time the summer going into my 9th grade year. Basically just poured alcohol down my throat. Every time I drank it was basically just waiting for whatever I had buried inside to explode out of me after pouring alcohol down. The drinking would be pretty sporadic just because I didn't really have easy access to it. In high school I found lifting and that became my go to for coping. Could only workout so much though. I think I took my first cycle of DS at 19. Had a party when I was 20 and the cops came. I woke up in the hospital. That put a damper on the drinking. But instead of dealing with any of my issues(went to a therapists for a bit) I just went to porn more. Porn had been around for a while but that is when I would say it became an addiction. I think at one point I even stopped lifting. Seriously don't know how I lived like I did. Just wasn't taking care of myself at all. Fell asleep driving down the highway. I got diagnosed with sleep apnea but my bigger problem was I was staying up all night watching porn and then would wake up and watch more. It is crazy to think back to how I was "living" then. Big change happened when my sister got cancer. I started helping out with her taking her to appointments and all. She got me to go back to church(different one than where I grew up). Was still addicted to porn and not really trying to stop. Then she had chemo treatment and her immune system was tanked plus she had/s a cat. Her boyfriend at the time(now husband) was taking care of her a lot but then he had to go out of town for 2 weeks for work. So I stayed with her for 2 weeks. And for some reason I couldn't bring myself to watch porn at my sister's house. I think God used that as an opportunity to show me I didn't have to live like that which for a long time I figured that was just going to be my life. I am not sure why it got that bad but it did. I don't have some good excuse or anything. That is definitely more than I told the middle schoolers but they got part of that. With them it was funny story, scripture, and bottom line focused. Hoping it had an impact of some of them. They seemed to pay attention. Alright so here was my workout from today: Lying leg curl 6-8-10 with 160,100,50 Straight arm pull down mtor 130 for 9 High row machine Hammer Strength rest pause 320 for 9,4,3 Preacher curl mtor 120 for 7. Was planning on doing 110 again but accidentally used it as a warm up and it was easy haha. Today got some sun. I got a nice farmer's tan going on right now. Went in the back yard and did some reading/writing shirtless. Stay out there about 30 minutes and sweat haha. Then decided to walk shirtless around the neighborhood for another 25 minutes. Going to the beach the 25th-27th so I figure I might get a little sun ahead of time. Plus my bacne is looking great haha.

    Did bench yesterday. Got 5 reps at 165 with the duffalo. Felt pretty good, if I can stick with this it should go okayish. At least I'm guessing 165. The bar felt heavier than 65 pounds but I've been gone for so long I'm not great at judging weights Did some BBB and tricep pushdowns

    Long answer incoming. Work is ehhh, maybe. I'm not hating the travel but coming into it, one of my biggest concerns was travel that required stays over the weekend. And my third week of traveling is a weekend stay over that drifts into week 4. Frankly, I'm just not good with losing weekends. Weeks are manageable but living apart for two to three weeks at a time is bullshit I'm not really into. It's a shame too because the job is easy and I could do well with the company. What the plan seems to be in my head is this: I can apply for new jobs at 6 months so I may stick it out and look for something in a specific place with them. I'm also gonna keep looking for lab jobs in the mean time and if something comes along, I'll pursue it. If not, this is an overall good job and certainly one I can move forward with. There is one other thing I didn't fully expect. As least not the degree of it. The more I'm in labs, the more I miss it. I don't miss the corporate bullshit or the disordered nature of my smaller company I worked for but I sure as shit miss the technical work. I feel it every day I'm at work and with it getting worse, I can see me really pushing to get into a lab Job again. Which is funny because I thought I was done. So it's probably nostalgia but I don't know if it's a Rose colored glasses kinda situation. I'm really wrestling with a bunch of conflicted ideas. I don't know if I took this job because I desperately needed something and I basically had applied to everywhere in the town I could and in the process of all that, lied to myself that I could be happy doing this. If I will actually be happy once I'm out of training and not being watched all day (the older guys are slow and lazy and it makes my days drag on). Not to sound condescending but I feel like this job is beneath me in a lot of ways when compared to what I used to do. I correctly feel like I am gonna waste my education. I'm not ashamed of my work or anything but it's just different. Not in either a good or bad way, just different. If anything, I see it as being a job worth being proud of doing but it's not what I'm proud of myself to be doing if that makes any sense. With my education and general level of intelligence, I feel out of place. And a guy we're friends with who knows basically all of Pittsburgh and is influential took my resume this week so who fucking knows how that's gonna affect my situation.

    Found a decent gym around here. Really big, lots of equipment, is "westside certified" which I think just means they have a lot of WSB equipment. Not bad because their equipment seems to be of decent quality and they have some of that really interesting stuff like the assisted leg curl thing, the glute bridge machine, etc. Signed up for a week membership so I'll feel bad if I piss 30 bucks down the drain. Gonna do that for every city I travel to. And I'll keep my membership at home active for when I'm home, which should be ~2-3 weeks every 2 months if the schedule continues as it currently has been going. So anyway, kept it light and breezy since it was first week back in forever. Kept the main movement as it was supposed to be, cut down on the warmups (for logistics more than anything else, didn't want a huge number of sets). Dialed back the accessory work to almost nothing. I decided to just jump back in with where I was in my last 5/3/1 cycle since those maxes were done from an untrained state so it's pretty much my baseline strength level and I can slide right back in with no issues. It was a 1+ week so here goes. 1. Squats-Yoke Bar 5 x 155 lbs 3 x 175 lbs 2 x 205 lbs Fell short of my first microcyle goal as calculated. According to my math/app, it should have been ~245 and was only 230 2. Good Mornings-Yoke Bar 5 x 5 sets x 155 lbs 3. Reverse Hyper 10 x 3 sets x 50 lbs The good mornings was the only accessory work done. Gonna knock out some bench work tonight and maybe some light conditioning. Maybe sled dragging or yoke walks. Not sure yet but I'll do something.

    Yes! Literally pineapple core (chunk it or crush it), pineapple rinds (rinsed but not washed), sugar or honey, and spices like clove or cinnamon or cardamom if you like, and give it 3 or 4 days on your counter. THen strain it and refrigerate it. If you want to be all fancy, put it in swingtops with a tiny amount of priming sugar and it will really carbonate.

    We're still discussing spanish rice. I love this place. Rice (sautee) Taco seasoning 1 can tomatoes with green chilies 1 can of water If my kids weren't such awful people about onions, I'd sautee onions and garlic with the rice, too. Recently, I made tepache, which is a simple ferment of pineapple core and rind in water with sugar. I spiced it with 2 or 3 cloves and I think that might have made it a bit funky. I liked it, though. It was like a sweet pineapple soda.

    Good news my harem of homos: I'm on my first trip for work this week so I've got spare time. I think I'm gonna do some minor exercise tonight. It'll be the hotel gym but I guess I've gotta start somewhere. My company offers a corporate discount for lifetime fitness so I need to get that info since those fucking places are in every town.

    For yoga, I suggest an actual yoga studio as opposed to a multipurpose gym. I have found a more welcoming environment in a studio. Actually less judgemental. For me the Vinyasa flow style works better because you're not static in any one pose for too long. Find a place that has beginner classes and finally, leave all your fucks at home. Nobody cares how good you are. Most are very supportive. The only other time I have felt that level of support is from powerlifting.

    AA and the treatment of alcoholism

    AA is definitely not a great singular treatment option and some addicts become addicted to AA in recovery, which is bad as well. It is a good tool to use as PART of recovery, however. Group accountability is the main reason IMO. Combined with therapy from a liscence substance abuse therapist, exercise, and possibly naltrexone, you have a winning combination. AA alone is a terrible idea IMO. It doesn't solve the issues that cause triggers nearly like a therapist can. And addictive behaviors need to be identified and slowly modified. AA also does not fix the messed up reward system. Naltrexone may help here, physiologically, but not behaviorally. Therapist is most important IMO.

Gadgil ABSTRACT: Heterocyclic amines (HCAs) are suspected human carcinogens formed in muscle foods during high temperature grilling or cooking. Inhibition of HCAs by commercial marinades rich in polyphenolic antioxidant containing spices was evaluated with beef round steaks cooked at 204 °C (400 °F). Treatment effects on the levels of 4 HCAs were investigated: 2‐amino‐3,8‐dimethylimidazo[4,5‐f]quinoxaline (MeIQx), 2‐amino‐1‐methyl‐6‐phenyl‐imidazo[4,5‐b]pyridine (PhIP), 1‐methyl‐9H‐pyrido[4,3‐b]indol (harman), and 9H‐pyrido[4,3‐b]indol (norharman). The marinades were formulated according to the package label instruction in an oil, water, and vinegar mixture, and the steaks were treated for 1 h prior to grilling. All 3 marinades, Caribbean, Southwest, and herb, significantly decreased the imidazo‐azaarene HCAs (MeIQx, PhIP) as contrasted to controls and liquid blanks. The Caribbean mixture showed the highest decrease in the total HCA content (88%), followed by the herb (72%) and Southwest (57%). With a few exceptions there were significant decreases in HCAs for treatments with only the marinade bases (ingredients without any spices/herbs). As measured by high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the marinades contained considerable amounts of the polyphenolic antioxidants carnosic acid, carnosol, and rosmarinic acid with Caribbean being the highest. Commonly available spice‐containing marinades can be effective inhibitors of HCA formation and provide reduced exposure to some of the carcinogens formed during grilling.

    Played around tonight with heavy c+ps and managed to get 3x3 with 2x100 and 2x5 l/r 100 snatches. Plus some band work. Fairly happy with this as second workout and both fasted. Had pwo and the konjac noodle alfredo and am gonna be pooping until tomorrow, I suspect.

    I didn't find Asian women attractive for the longest time, either. Then suddenly I thought some of them were pretty hot. I still don't find a Korean girls attractive. I've found lots of half Asian women attractive though and dated a few. Also, anal isn't real sex. Just putting that out there. Use this information however you see fit.

I think 300 wouldn't be bad at all at this point. But still...the bench demons are waiting for me to try. I want more jacked arms so I'm going to try to slowly increase my pullup volume until I can do 3X15, then add weight. Because I hate curls and they don't feel good to me. It's like eating pussy. Just muddling through them in hopes that I'll get something for my half-assed effort.

    Alright so back to boring ole workouts haha Military press 180 for 6 Incline BB press 275 for 6,2,1 Pec deck 180 for 9,3 was toasted Leg press stack, just did a few sets of 10 to feel it a little bit JM press 155 for 9 mtor I know I LITERALLY just said I wasn't going to talk about Bri but I had to share this. And granted it isn't necessarily about Bri(directly). So my sister called me when I was finishing up my workout. We mainly talked about their home building process. She was going to the dentist. Said she will call me back later to discuss my stuff after her appointment. I am at home cooking myself something to eat after lifting(some ground turkey with pasta sauce). I get a text from my dad: "Men are stupid. I'm a man. Don't listen to me. Find a new Bree. The one you were hanging out with wants to move on. Find someone new. Love Dad" Lol I immediately call my dad. Half checking to see if my mom had been borrowing my dad's phone. I had actually had a pretty good honest conversation with my dad last night. My dad is not one to be so bold. He has been pretty "mehh just find a woman to marry." He has suggested Asian women but then I told him I don't like Asian women. I think this baffles him haha. I was really surprised by my dad as far as the conversation we had last night and that text. Honestly the conversation was more about my parents. Basically how did they get together and stay together(40 years married). I learned a little more how jacked up they were particularly my dad. It was weird to have my dad be so open and honest. I could probably count the number of times I have getting advice from my dad on one hand and if my dad was proud of me I wouldn't know it because he doesn't say it. In all honesty I don't think we discussed Bri all that much during our talk. I did mention it wasn't going to be easy and the concerns she brought up. But not enough information to give my dad who rarely give opinion on the girls I talk to a reason to be so bold haha. So the real reason I mentioned my conversation with my sister haha. I told her about our dad's text and we both got a good laugh about it. He gives her a little more of his opinion but still reserved so she is aware how rare and out of character that was haha. She suggested slow down and not worry about it so much. Which is one reason I plan on not talking about Bri on this log. Now if something crazy happens I might bring her up haha.

    I took 10mg viagra twice last night. First dose 60 min pre, second dose 30 min pre. I also ate some pickled garlic and took some vit C about 45min pre. The boner I got was indestructible. Honestly I think I added 20% volume. It was amazing. I also think my sensitivity increased due to the increased size of the head. I felt like a jackhammer. It was like a boner I would get when I was 18 combined with the experience I have now. Jamie said it felt like I was turning her pussy inside out and had to take a bunch of midol to get ready for work this morning. My ego just went from 6 to 11.
