Dimethandrolone, male contraceptive candidate

Recommended Posts

https://medicalxpress.com/news/2018-03-dimethandrolone-undecanoate-male-birth-pill.html

"Like the pill for women, the experimental male oral contraceptive—called dimethandrolone undecanoate, or DMAU—combines activity of an androgen (male hormone) like testosterone, and a progestin, and is taken once a day..."

So, do you think this stuff would be anabolic?

How about shutdown?

At the highest dose of DMAU tested, 400 mg, subjects showed "marked suppression" of levels of their testosterone and two hormones required for sperm production. The low levels, Page said, are consistent with effective male contraception shown in longer-term studies.

"Despite having low levels of circulating testosterone, very few subjects reported symptoms consistent with testosterone deficiency or excess,"

Sounds fun.

Thank the gods for vasectomies, the pill, rubbers, etc.

DMAU may be effective at killing off sperm production, but it sounds like there's a bunch of sequelae they aren't considering...

Ball shrinkage might be a major turnoff for this sort of approach.

Ignoring the physical symptoms for a moment, asymptomatic HPTA shutdown is still shutdown...not sure if the asymptomaticness is due to the DMAU or time or...?

Well the idea here is to have an androgenic-anabolic stand-in for testosterone...so aside from testicular atrophy, the shutdown should be largely asymptomatic...if there are long-term consequences to having a synthetic testosterone stand-in providing you with your masculinity is unknown.

Entering phase 2 clinical trials if anyone wants to enroll. =D

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03455075?term=Dimethandrolone+undecanoate%2C+contraceptive&rank=2

Looks like phase 1 participants had gains without exercise with no liver/kidney stress etc. Also, not surprisingly, it seems to have significant progestational activity. (~2.6 on a scale where 4.0 is the max).
