It is honestly starting to feel like the south (used generally to describe the swath of the states from Georgia west to Oklahoma) is a different country...the social mores are becoming so divergent with the rest of the US...

Dude, it's not just the south.  It's large swaths of this country in pretty much every state.  I think people underestimate how close we are to that type of future and how quickly we're moving closer and closer to it in spite of what feels "right" in their minds.

Wow and I thought I was Mr. Optimistic haha.

 

Here was the workout from today: clothed and shoes weight was 243.

Chin ups was supposed to be +23 I just rounded up to +25 and used one of the "light" weights. 5 sets of 2

Seated leg curl 240 for 8,3,3,3,3,3

Lat pulldowns pronated 250 for 8,3,3,3

Shrugs 115 for 10 mtor

Incline hammer curls 45 for 6 mtor

 

Getting close to the end of the stack on a few exercises.

 

Going to take tomorrow off from lifting. Hoping it will give my hip flexor some time before squats and zercher squats. Wanted to do a bit of extra protein today but Idk how much extra I really got. I ended up adding an extra meal in but not have been as protein heavy as I was hoping. When I went to the Mexican place for dinner they didn't load it up with meat like last time. When I got it before it was basically all meat with a thin layer of veggies and toppings haha.

 

It was a good night with Bri. I am enjoying getting to know her more. I will keep it as simple as that.

If you're running up against the end of the stack, try adding bands to the weight stack. It adds complexity, and lights up different parts of the ROM. You would probably even have to back a few plates off when adding them in. It's a fun variation for machine exercises.

This is a good one, especially for triceps, since the forces required at the end range of motion on cables is just dog without accommodating resistance. 

 

What I like to do, especially for back since back gets harder as you reach the end, is to use a secondary pin from a different stack and just use it to pin a plate to the stack of weights. If you do this, try to put it as low as possible without the plate bumping into the floor or the monkey cage. If you put it up too high it can leverage the large metal rod with the stacked weight to not align with the rack, so on the way back down it can misgroove out of the cable machine. Believe me, fixing this isn't a pain in the ass, but it is worth avoiding for the surprise and shock alone.

You can also loop the band under the bottom of the stack and hook both ends on the pin, or choke one end around the bottom bar of the stack support and then over the top and around the pin.

Thanks for the ideas. I guess I will have to invest in some bands after all haha. 

 

Today was just a really nice day. Decided not to lift today to left my body recover a bit. Didn't even go for a walk today. Got in a good bit of protein. Didn't sleep too bad last night. Hopefully can get a little extra sleep tonight.

 

Ate dinner with my parents and hung out with them for a bit. Things are better with them since moving out. Not that they were ever really bad but definitely helped changed my relationship with my parents for the better. I did have fun fielding questions from my mom about Bri. But it was even more fun when she asked to see a picture of Bri and I showed her a picture of 3 girls and told her to tell me which one she thought was Bri haha. In case you were wondering she guess right haha.

 

I definitely feel better about how I am looking lately. Can really notice the improvements. It is not a bad confidence boost to see the positive changes.

So I think I found my soul mate... just kidding. But we did realize neither one of feels the need to accumulate animals like we are building Noah's ark or treat them like they are children(because they are freaking animals haha)

 

I actually met up with her and some of her friends tonight after CR. When I got there I was honestly a little nervous. This was the first time we were hanging out in a group setting. It is much easier for me to do 1 on 1 settings. Plus I figured her friends would be younger. It actually went well and I had fun. My last relationship we would almost exclusive hang out 1 on 1 which can have some negatives and not really prepare for the future. Real life is not just the 2 of you but how you fit into each other's lives. So far I have met a handful plus of Bri's family and will be meeting more tomorrow. She has yet to meet anyone from my family. I am not sure I want to do that to her yet haha.

 

Here was my workout from today as sad as it was.

I tried to warm up my hips extra today. Went to squat and my hip just wasn't having it. Stopped after the second warm up set. No way was I going to squat 420 for a bunch of reps haha.

Skipped zercher squats as well obviously.

Flat DB press 110 for 7mtor

Rope triceps 170 for 9,3,3,3,3,2

DB lateral raise 50 for 9,3,3,3,3

 

Not quite sure what I am going to do as far as this workout routine. Was really hoping it would have been good to go today. The other 2 push workouts include hack squats and belt squat/leg press. Considering doing a back off week and trying to start back up. Possibly changing routines to one that won't be as strength focused for a bit and them coming back to this. I am definitely liking the results.

I cringe every time I hear some Millennial couple refer to their dogs/cats as their "fur babies"

I don't think that is exclusive to millennials. We used to joke that our dog was our "fur baby" long before millennials were out of elementary school. Now, we didn't take her everywhere in an expensive over the shoulder bag (retrievers are a bit more substantial than most millennial animals), and that was just something we said. In fact, one of the t-shirts we made that poor dog wear we still have as a keepsake. It said "My doggy is my baby" or something like that. Do remember that my wife was a teen and I barely in my 20s at this time. lol

I don't think it's exclusive to millennials But millennial females are the ones of my concern lol. It was a nice surprise. I am not against dogs or even cats I just don't have the desire to own one. I was open to it if I ended up with a woman who wanted one but the ideal would be pet free.

 

I went to a camp Bri worked/volunteered at Friday got introduced as her boyfriend by her 16 year old sister. Oh and got invited to a Father's day dinner that night. It was an interesting(good way) day. Spent a lot of time with her which I enjoyed.

 

Decided I am just going to tell her I rent a room from a woman I know from church. Think it would not be great to just spring it on her by just introducing them in person. But I will tell her in person. Feel like that is a decent middle ground.

 

Here is my workout from yesterday

Pendlay row 290 for 5 sets of 3

Romanian deadlift 285 for 9 mtor

Straight arm pullover 120 for 9,3,3,3

Bent over lateral raise 45 for 10,3,3,3,3

Incline DB curl 40 for 6 mtor

 

And then my workout from today

Bench 280 for 8 reps and it was kind of easy

Close grip floor press 275 for 8,3,1

Hack squat did 3 warm up sets ended with 225 and decided to hold off a little longer. Did some leg extensions.

DB shoulder press 75 for 8 mtor, this is the most I had done. Had been stuck at 7 reps for a bit.

French press machine 170 for 10 mtor

 

I am liking my results. Can tell I am getting stronger on my lift and leaning out. My weight was 242 tonight with everything on. So I usually subtract 3 pounds or so. Curious what I would be with a morning weigh in. 242 is not bad at all after having carbs last night. Had a ribeye steak, mashed potatoes, and a sweet potato then later had a Arby's bacon beef brisket cheddar sandwich with some popcicles lol.

 

Tonight I was going to try and get a burger, fries, and fish tacos from this pub but they closed the kitchen. I honestly could probably wait a few days and have carbs then and be ok haha.

Happy father's day to any of yall that have kids.

 

Here was my workout from today:

Deadlift conventional! 405 for 5 sets of 3 pretty easy. Definitely a good idea to sub out the sumo. I really think that tweaked my hip.

Chest supported rows 195 for 10,3,3,2

Face pull 80 for 10,3,3,3,3 decided to switch these to myo reps instead of mtor

BB curl 125 for 9,3,3,3

 

So I told Bri about my living situation. No big reaction, wasn't like thrilled about it haha but understood. Personally I wouldn't like her living with a guy but I find her attractive. Bri is actually coming over tomorrow for dinner. I am cooking, we are progressive like that haha.

 

I generally don't have much trouble opening up about my struggle with porn. I told the 2 girls I was in a serious relationship about it fairly easily. It was pretty easy with Emily because she already knew. But it was definitely hard telling Bri. I think it was because I was more worried it would scare her off. Which is kind of comical looking at the grand scheme of things. She has been pretty open with me about her past.

She is pretty adventurous when it comes to food so that won't be an issue. First date took her to "the hole in the wall" Korean restaurant in town and got her to try "spicy" pork(dwaejigogi). Later took her to a more authentic Mexican restaurant and ordered her lengua(cow tongue). She didn't know what it was till afterwards, and continued to eat it after I told her.

We once worked up a "sarcasm" tag because we had so many issues with that. I might look into that again...

She got plenty of rest and ended up feeling better. Then asked if I wanted her to still come over today. So she came over tonight haha. It was good. Looking forward to seeing her again.

 

Alright so here was my workout from today

Military press 175 for 6 decided not to go for the 7th haha

Incline BB press 275 for 5,2,1

Pec deck 180 for 10,3,3,3

Hip machines each for 2 sets of 10 just hoping it gets better somehow haha

JM press 145 for 10 mtor
